Beta-carotene is a plant carotenoid that the human body cannot produce on its own. As a fat-soluble nutrient, beta-carotene is targetedly stored in the various layers of the skin. It acts as a natural precursor to vitamin A, which plays an essential role in skin structure and regeneration.
